Paul Cliteur! ![Hooray Hooray]()
Now some may ask: who the hell is Paul Cliteur? After the murders of Pim Fortuyn and Theo van Gogh, Cliteur was a commentator for a political show on Sunday on which he explained his moderate anti-Islam views. I didn't necessarily agree with his view, but he seemed like guy you could argue with on a decent level ... instead of the right-wing boneheads, which usually represent those sentiments.
But Cliteur quit his job as commentator when he didn't feel like he could express his opinion because of all the criticism he got from the Secret Service. His comments were considered counter-productive when it came to integration.
Some years went by and a former student of his became well-known for starting the most covert right-wing movement in the Netherlands. They agitated against the deal that the European countries made with the Ukraine. The movement had its finest moment when they initiated a referendum about the deal.
Fact is that they screwed people over by declaring that a vote against the Ukraine deal was a vote against Europe ... but that was their hidden agenda, that only got reveiled right before the first ever Dutch referendum. They sort of hi-jacked the whole thing by declaring that the outcome wasn't about the Ukrainian deal, but more about the Netherlands leaving the European Union.
Funny thing is: our prime minister declared beforehand that he would not ignore the outcome, even if it was only a consultative referendum. Nowadays he's desperately seeking for a way to weazle out of it and sign the treaty anyway.
I guess a picture says more than a thousand words when it comes to that movement ....

The second from left is Thierry Baudet, Cliteur's former student. The guy on the right is Jan Roos, former newsreporter for the one-and-only Dutch gutter press channel, Pownews. He's the leader of a new right-wing party VNL nowadays.
And although Baudet has vehemently declared not to go into politics, he started his own party .... which seems funny, because like a real politician he broke his own promise to start with ....
But let's get back to Cliteur. You might know that Geert Wilders is in hot water these days because of his 'Minder minder minder' declaration ("Less less less .... right after the elections he posed his question for a group of enhousiast: Do you want more or less Moroccans? Less less less!)
The courtcase against Wilders has been dragging on and on (with the initial hearings), but it really took off on Monday (without Wilders, because he refuses to appear).
But now Cliteur has come to the scene (again) and spewing his ideas about the case. And this is where he deserved his award. He says that the initial question that Wilders asked was "een politiek voorstel tot immigratiebeperking" (a political proposition for a limitation on immigration).
I bet he still thinks that Hitler was just waving ....
